Help Me Send AT LEAST 39 more Wheelchairs to Disabled People Around the World
Welcome to my page!
I’m so glad that you’re interested in sending wheelchairs to disabled children and adults around the world. In developing countries, disabled adults and children often live isolated and alone in their homes, with no access to education, work, or their community. Their families often live in impoverished conditions – there is simply no money for a wheelchair.
But I want to help change this – that’s why I’m asking you to join me in providing wheelchairs and the Gospel Message, through Joni and Friends. Since 1992 Wheels for the World has given more than 100,000 wheelchairs to children and adults affected by disability around the world. They has set a goal for themselves to send another 100,000 by 2020. We can help them achive that goal. Together, we will send wheelchairs to impoverished communities in developing countries around the world. There, our volunteer teams of occupational therapists, physical therapists and wheelchair mechanics carefully fit each wheelchair to meet the recipient's specific needs (please watch the video above!). They also receive training in the use and upkeep of their new wheelchair. With a wheelchair, children can attend school and play with their friends; adults can obtain employment, attend church, and be a part of their community. Each recipient also hears the Gospel Message, receives a Bible in their native language, and is connected with the support of a local church. Their lives are forever changed!
I turned 59 on the 14th of May. In July I set a personal goal to send at least 59 wheelchairs to disabled children and adults, who are in desperate need of such a gift. Each wheelchair costs $150.00. In some countries that is more than a years wages. My ultimate goal was to raise $8,850. The good news is that we have raised enough money to purchase 20 wheelchairs. That is amazing! My deepest thanks go out to everyone who gave so generously. But there is so much more to do. Joni and Friends has put out an urgent plea for help purchasing wheelchairs. The hurricanes, Harvey that hit Texas, Irma that hit Florida and Cuba, and Maria that hit Puerto Rico as well as other Caribbean islands, and the earthquake that hit Mexico left massive destuction in their wakes. When wheelchair bound people were evacuated, their wheelchairs often had to be left behind. Many, if not most of them are now lost or irreparably damaged. And this is not to mention the help they need to purchase wheelchairs for the Wheels for the World teams going overseas to give the gift of mobility to disabled children and adults around the world. Wheels for the World has teams going to Guatemala (two teams), Dominican Republic, El Salvador (two teams), Mexico (two teams), Cuba (two teams), China (two teams), Romania, Poland, Peru (three teams), Ghana, Uganda, Jordan, Thailand, Brazil, and India. And these are just the trips scheduled for the next year!
I love this ministry! I've wanted to go on a Wheels for the World trip for years. But 4 years ago I was in an auto accident that left me permanently disabled, with the use of only my left hand. I was right handed and was pretty mechanical before that. There's not much I can do to help them on a trip now. Will you help me do the next best thing? Will you help me reach my goal of providing at least 59 wheelchairs for the Wheels for the World team? Please click the ‘Donate’ button on the right to make a contribution to my fundraiser. Even a gift of $5 will help. Any size gift will help. Thank you so much for your generosity!
I love y'all !
